Making Our Souls Alive In Christ
MOSAIC Bible Study is for women who Love Christ and to serve others. The apostle Paul links the idea of discipline with spiritual life: “Train yourself for godliness”—referring to a spiritual workout—for “godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:7-8). A Christian woman’s life is about bringing her will and every area of her life under submission to God’s will.
We are Blessed!

The video was a lot of fun. It is exciting to me to watch someone speak who loves Jesus as much as she does!
The main purpose of the video was...
Beth describes the scene, gives us some words to ponder, allows us to relate to scripture throughout the bible and gives us hope.
Beth makes a great point this week in the video. "Turning the Book of Esther into a gender war would miss the entire point." Esther isn't about women submitting and man's authority, it's about God's providence in our lives. Even when--especially when--we cannot see His hand working we can know that He is. Praise GOD!
Beth conducted a survey that asked 400 women what they thought the toughest part of being a women is...
- Submissive
- Yielding
- Balance
And the number one thing woman wrote down was HORMONES!
What did you write down as your three things?

King Headache
Answers to principle Questions
1. Dictatorship by King Xerxes
2. Nobles and all members of the Provinces
3. She didn't want to the party because they were
all drunk, she was being defiant and she was already royalty due to her own
lineage, she didn't need to go.
4. Ban her, strip her of her crown and make it to
where she was not allowed to see the king ever again
5. During this time period it would be tough being
a woman, knowing that Vashti was the most beautiful woman in the land, she
stood her ground which caused every woman to suffer the consequences (because
of the new law) and woman are jealous creatures
What I learned from week one.
King Xerxes is someone that I would want to look
at and party with, but I would hate his arrogance and ignorance. He is a
crude man that really doesn't have a very good self-esteem. I believe
this is why he surrounds himself with smart, beautiful, fun loving people.
I also find him to be a chauvinist when it comes to his wife. He only
sees her as an object and demands sex when he pleases. He is a very
manipulative man, but cannot make major decisions without council.
Looking ahead in the New Testament we have to
know that history will certainly repeat itself (it does on a daily basis
today), so we need to learn from the past.
The party scene is majestic. I followed
Beth's instructions and pictured the party and it is certainly a party I would
like to attend. I pictured a beautiful hall, everyone dressed in their
finest clothing and everyone drinking and having a great time. As you all
know, I love a party and a good laugh. However, I would have to consider
the motives of King Xerxes. 180 Day Expo is 6 month party. That is a LOT
of kissing up! Along with that, the 7 day party is likely to kill a few
folks, just by the length and the amount of wine consumed. (Although, I
would like to take a gold goblet home for a souvenir)
Vashti seems like an amazing woman. Don't
misunderstand! I don't necessarily think what she did was correct, but in our
feminist society, I think she stood for what she believed. I would have been concerned if my husband had been drinking for 7 days straight and asked me to
come into a room, full of nerds, with nothing but a crown on. I would
have to question his motives. I think Vashti is strong-willed,
determined, defiant, Noble and gorgeous! She is obviously someone most women
would strive to be.
I find it interesting that King Xerxes was too lazy/drunk to get his wife himself (again I would question his motives).
He sent 7 castrated men to retrieve her, which I am assuming because he
didn't want them to be sexually attracted to her. And when she denies
him, he is humiliated, embarrassed, furious and mad with anger. DEEENIED
(in my best Mike Myers voice)!
It is tough being woman because one of the most
beautiful, royally, noble women in the world just screwed up the rest of my
life (due to the law changes) all because she didn't want to go to her husband with
nothing but a crown on!
Relating this to my life. I am constantly
around women who intimidate me and make me feel less than. The good news
is, they don't define me and I can rest assured that I have faith that God loves me for me! YAY!

Our Sister Rosie - Doctor Visit (Good news!)
Sean - Doctor Visit and Crones Healing
Matt Green - Cancer
Twyla - Doctor's visit and battle with Depression
Charles and Lindsay - Adoption Process and Move
Week One: Instructions and Questions
The Principal Questions we need to answer this week:
- What was the timing and political climate of the story Esther would soon enter?
- In Esther 1, who attended Xerxes banquet?
- From your perspective, for what three possible reasons might Vashti have refused King Xerxes' order?
- How might the thought that "it's touch being a woman in another woman's shadow" have proved especially true for wives all over Persia?
Think about these questions during your weekly study. We will discuss these questions, Day One and Day Two on Friday. We will discuss Day Three, Four and Five on Monday of next week.
Be sure to bring your book to the video, there is fill-in-the-blank questions.

Hello Ladies!!
I hope you are finding the blog useful and user-friendly!
Please let me know if you have problems posting. I want everyone to be as involved as possible. I know all of us have work, attend school, have children and/or are super busy. This bible study is not to overwhelm you, but to let you have a reprieve from your day-to-day life and share time with God, Friends and The Word.
This blog is designed for us to share anything from prayer requests, pictures, life events, concerns and posts about the weekly readings. Feel free to share!!!!
I enjoyed getting to know each of you yesterday and I hope that we all become lifelong friends! Encourage friends and family to join us.
One thing I forgot to add yesterday...
We have three furrbabies: Sophie Rosie Cheeks, Olivia Newton Jones and Owen Lift Jones.
Sophie (weenie dog) is my baby. I got her in college. She will be 12 this June.
Olivia (bassett hound) is my husband's dog. She is 5 and very much a singer.
Owen is named after the Owen from Throw Momma from the Train. He is Charles' cat, but I try daily to obtain his love, with no luck...
